Rye Preserve is a 530-acre Manatee County preserve northwest of the Lake Manatee Dam. Its trails pass through sand pine scrub, oak scrub, oak hammocks and river habitat, where gopher tortoises can be seen. It has a playground, a kayak launch, fishing access, camping and an outdoor education area, and the historic Rye Family Cemetery.
